Co-ordinate manufacturing improvements with other site functions in order to maximise productivity and improve overall plant performance. The role has responsibility for all of the production plants and personnel including packaging and COP operations. Your responsibilities: * Maintains EHS standards to ensure compliance with JM, OSHA and other legal requirements to assure excellent process and behavioral safety and health performance. * Sets standards and expectations and monitors compliance against safe systems of work. * Ensures Management of Change (MOC) responsibilities are met within the production areas. * Monitors compliance of all EHS standards and drives ownership and safety awareness throughout the production teams. * Ensures that the appropriate investigations and responses are taken for all EHS incidents within the plants. * Sets the plan to ensure that all documentation is in place, reviewed and kept up to date, reflecting current practice i.e., Plant Manuals, SOP's, Recipes. * Contributes to the development of short term (1 to 3 month) production plans along with the weekly plan on all plants. * Liaises with Logistics and Production Planning, as well other functions on Site such as Maintenance or Engineering, in order to deliver the production plan as efficiently as possible. * Delivers and communicates the weekly production schedule to meet business requirements, maximizing quality and throughput. * Assists with the development of asset replacement plans, engineering project scope towards the longer-term business aims. * Ensures all support function activities are aligned with the production plan including plant trials, project work, maintenance activities etc. * Reviews and monitors compliance to the schedule, investigates exceptions looking for the root cause and corrective actions. * Owns targets for availability, rate and quality on key pieces of equipment and ensures Foreman and Lead Operators are measuring against and striving to beat these targets * Achieves target specifications for all materials through production area. * Responds to customer complaints, feedback, carries out thorough investigations, identifies and implements improvements * Drives a continuous improvement culture in all aspects of site operational and EHS performance to meet business and legislative requirements. * Ensures the appropriate actions and learning are taken from all incidents (production loss, quality, EHS) and drives a root cause approach. * Supports the implementation of Lean and other Continuous Improvement tools and techniques through the Foreman. * Drives efficiency improvements in line with VC standards * Evaluates and proposes opportunities to reduce operational expenses * Leads the monitoring and use of SAP for all production related activities Assists with the understanding of raw material and utility usage and investigation of any month end variances. Ensures waste and off-spec material generated is minimized and works to recover it as far as practicable, in-line with QC & R&D guidelines. * Works to achieve Sustainability and Manufacturing Excellence targets (customer complaints, waste to landfill, MC per lb etc) * Develops Shift Foremen and manufacturing personnel to meet both immediate and future needs ensuring employees achieve their full potential. * Provides strategy and direction to the Foreman and operations teams * Coaches and supports team members * Ensures all team members are validated and competent to carry out their duties * Manages resource requirements to meet site demands by alignment of people and tasks to maximise growth and benefit. * Ensuring financial success by conforming to standards and targets. * Daily, weekly & monthly production order confirmation accuracy in SAP * Reporting on production order variances * Taking action on production order variances * Meeting all other financial performance targets * Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements for the role: * Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field; or equivalent combination of education and required experience. * Extensive SAP Experience * QC experience * Knowledge of manufacturing and material handling processes. * Minimum 7 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering role, preferably in the oil refining or chemical industry. * Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience. * Excellent interpersonal skills * Good at delivering and receiving constructive criticism * Good IT literacy skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) * Ability to create a high performing team and develop individual team members. * Demonstrated initiative, common sense and sound judgement * Proven record of fair and motivational leadership. * Prefer experience with and applying Lean Manufacturing improvement techniques.
